Our Favorite Arizona Summer Hikes

Looking for summer hiking recommendations in Arizona? We got you! 

We know how challenging and undesirable Arizona summers are, hiking in this weather is no easy task. Wether you're a beginner or expert hiker, with proper planning hiking in Arizona during summer can be safe and enjoyable experience.

Wild Burro Trail

Wild Burro Trail is located at Lake Pleasant Regional Park, is dog friendly and offers beautiful views and a great experience of the Southwest anytime of the year. If you're lucky, you may run into some wild burros.  Check out this reel, from our last visit to Wild Burro Trail


Length: Approx 3.5 miles.

Type: Out and back. 

Level: Easy with some elevation

Shade: Little to none

Facilities: Restrooms located at trail entrance  

Pet Friendliness: Dogs are allowed on leash


Plan Ahead:

  • Park entrance is $7.00 per vehicle.  . 
  • Bring plenty of water and good hiking shoes.  Terrain has lots of loose rock. Check out our essentials for hiking with dogs in Arizona. 
  • If you run into wild burros, give them space.  Wild Burros can be territorial with dogs or aggressive if threatened.  Do not approach them.

Sycamore Falls Trail

Located within the Kaibab National Forest this short trail leads to the beautiful Sycamore Falls and breathtaking views from every angle. Check out this reel with some of those views. If you are looking for a longer and more challenging hike, visit Sycamore Rim Trail.  


Length: Approx .o5 miles.

Type: Loop

Level: Easy to Moderate

Shade: Plenty, lots of ponderosa and pines

Facilities: Restrooms located at trail entrance 

Pet Friendliness: Dogs are allowed on leash


Plan Ahead:

  • No fees to enter.  Hike is 30 minutes from Williams, in Northern Arizona.
  • Bring plenty of water and good hiking shoes.  Terrain has lots of loose rock. Check out our essentials for hiking with dogs in Arizona. 
  • Visit the Kaibab National Forrest for more information on this and other hikes in the area. 



Sedona's Fay Canyon Arch Trail

This one's perfect for anyone looking for an easy hike with lots of desert scenery and breathtaking views. Add on top of that all the beauty of the Sedona red rocks and a dramatic arch hidden in the Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness. 


Length: Approx. 2.0 miles

Type: In and Out

Level: Easy 

Shade: Some

Facilities: Vaulted restroom located at the parking lot

Pet Friendliness: Dogs are allowed on leash


Plan Ahead:

  • No fees to enter.  This is a moderately busy hike, parking may be limited. 
  • Bring plenty of water and good hiking shoes.  Terrain has lots of loose rock. Check out our essentials for hiking with dogs in Arizona.
